ABOUT RIOT ACT

Riot Act began in the fall of 1999 with the ideas for Slow Death By Vise, the brainchild of Chicago-area audio deconstruction engineers Carl Miller and Pat McCarthy. Although starting as what was essentially planned sonic experimentation, the Slow Death By Vise recording sessions yielded an amazing variety and quantity of unique and fascinating sounds. (Only maybe half of which appear on the completed 345-sound library!) So, as recording and editing progressed, it was decided to release these sounds commercially as a sound effects and sampling CD - the "Slow Death By Vise" that is proudly presented on this site.

And Slow Death by Vise is only the beginning! Numerous other sound effects and sampling libraries are planned, all intended to be single-CD libraries featuring sounds or samples derived from a specific source or theme, while avoiding genre appeal. With this intention, it is our mission to provide sound designers and electronic musicians with affordable, convenient access to specific categories of sounds rarely offered by other sound effects and sampling libraries.
